Pistons Exploring Malik Beasley Reunion After Tumultuous Year

The Detroit Pistons have reportedly re-engaged with the representatives of Malik Beasley regarding a potential return to the franchise, with both sides expressing mutual interest in a one-year contract.

Beasley spent the season away from the NBA while dealing with an ongoing league investigation tied to gambling allegations that first surfaced in 2025. The probe stemmed from allegations involving NBA games and prop bets during his time with the Milwaukee Bucks, leading Detroit to pause previous contract discussions.  Though Beasley’s name was one of several promoinent NBA personalities, according to his legal team, he was never the focus of the federal probe and is not facing any charges.

The timing of the probe could not have come at worse time for the 9-year pro as he was finalizing a 3 year, $42 million deal with the Piston, who in lieu of the cloud of suspicion surrounding Beasley at that time, pulled the contract offer.

Despite the uncertainty, Beasley remains an intriguing option for the Pistons. During his lone season in Detroit, he emerged as one of the league’s premier three-point shooters, averaging 16.3 points per game while setting a franchise record with 319 made threes.

A one-year “prove-it” deal would give Beasley an opportunity to re-establish his value while providing Detroit with a familiar floor-spacing weapon for a team looking to continue its upward trajectory in the Eastern Conference. However, any agreement would likely depend on the status and outcome of the NBA’s investigation.

If the investigation is resolved, a Beasley return could become one of Detroit’s most interesting offseason storylines.
